Text Formatter — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 November 2026

Summary

Text Formatter does not collect, store on a server, transmit or share any personal data. Everything the extension does happens inside your browser.

What the extension accesses

Where data is stored

Your templates and settings are saved with Chrome’s extension storage (chrome.storage.sync). If you are signed in to Chrome with sync enabled, Chrome syncs this data between your devices through your own Google account. The developer of Text Formatter has no access to it.

Selected text, page titles and URLs are used in memory at the moment you copy and are not saved by the extension.

Clipboard

When you choose a template, the extension writes the formatted result (rich text and plain text) to your clipboard. It never reads your clipboard.

No tracking, no network requests

The extension has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no accounts. It makes no network requests of its own and loads no remote code. The optional “Buy Me a Coffee” link in the popup only opens another website in a new tab when you click it; that site has its own privacy policy.

Permissions

Export and import

Settings → Backup lets you export your templates to a JSON file on your own computer and import them again. The file is created and read locally; nothing is uploaded.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date above is updated and the new version is published at this address.
